Negative brothers in arms...coming from the Cape I have been exposed to bands that even in their amateur phase. Showed so much promise in talent and product delivery...only to stumble and fail due to the sloth like acknowledgement of our fellow metal head peers. The very people wanting more Black and Death seem to be the ones with the most negative critic too. Hence newby bands tend to go where the love is...pop, pop-punk, industrial(ish) and of course f...ing emo crust!

...oh...and the M-TV thing is totally killing the originallity factor too!

I agree, most metal heads are too cool to support metal bands that are not playing the RIGHT metal

The beauty of the music scene is that there are real people out there that do give a stuff about the music, but they are just never active in the industry to make a difference... hopefully that will change over time in SA, hopefully soon!!!

I can't agree more - people are always bitching for more metal bands but when a good metal band comes along, they won;t accept it cos 'it doesnt sound like their fav band'.

CT has become increasingly 'elitest'. Being in a band should be about making the music that you love and NOT give a **** about what your friends like or that it should sound like other bands.
